The Norwegian singers, Linn Andrea Fuglseth and Torunn
Ostrem Ossum, and the Swede, Anna Maria Friman, got together in Oslo,
Norway in 1997 and put together Trio Mediaeval. They originally performed works of mediaeval
polyphony but widened their field and began to include many other works in
their repertoire including Norwegian folk songs and ballads and works by
contemporary composers such as Ivan Moody, Sungji Hong and Gavin Bryars.
Becoming a recognised vocal ensemble, they have worked
extensively with the English tenor John Potter. They also worked with the Tord Gustavson Trio in 2006 at
Harstad where they performed one of Tord’s compositions in a world premiere
collaboration concert.
Active in the recording studio, they have released the
2001 Words of the Angel, which reached the Billboard Classical Top
10, the 2004 Soir, dit Elle which also reached the Billboard
classical Top 10, the 2005 Stella Maris and the 2007 Folk Songs
which received a 2009 Grammy Award nomination.
An active touring ensemble, they are regularly heard
giving performances throughout Europe, Canada and the United States. They have also been the
Artist-in-Residence at the Festspillene in Bergen.
