    University of Illinois Oratorio Society

The chorus for this society, based at UI’s School of Music in Urbana-Champaign, is made up of a large amount of singers from within the university campus along with people who live in the local area.

They have been led by choral conductors that include Chester L Alwes, the Professor Emeritus Fred Stoltzfus and the visiting professor and choral director Kristina Boerger.

The chorus performs a major work every semester with some of them including Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Brahms’ Requiem, Haydn’s Creation, Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, Orff’s Carmina Burana and Verdi’s Requiem.  These performances have been made with Illini Symphony, the University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra and the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra.
