This 48 member
Chorale is the resident at Valparaiso University, Indiana.
It has made
its name as being one of the top Lutheran collegiate choral ensembles that delivers
performances of works from all eras of musical history to a consistently
high standard. They are also
known for singing multicultural and contemporary works in the language in
which they were written.
Maintaining a
close relationship with Leipzig’s St. Thomas Church, which has a close association with J. S.
Bach, the choir will serve its fourth residency there in 2012 when the church
celebrates its 800th anniversary.
The chorale is
led by the tenor Dr. Christopher Cock who directs them through their busy
concert and touring schedules as well as their activities in the recording
studio. He is also a director
of the Bach Institute at the university and has given several masterclasses.
In 2011 they
embarked on a Spring tour which comprised performances in Florida, North Carolina, Virginia and Washington D.C.
They have made
several recordings since 1998 which include Amazing Day, As It is In Heaven, Christ Child: Songs of the
Nativity, In Paradisum, The Lutheran Chorale with
Paul Manz, O My Soul, Star Still Guiding and Traditions: Hymns, Motets and Folk Songs.
