(Traditional Austrian Alpine)
This Christmas carol is a song from the Alpine region
of Austria that was passed down through the years by word of mouth. Many of these types of folk song
were often sung in taverns and not churches, where the lyrics and melodies
would be changed from area to area, but enjoyed by all who sang them and
considered public property with no known authorship or written text.
