    Backslidin

    (Lewis Anderson/Paul Craft)

Title track from Joe Stampley’s 1982 album.  Typical ‘80s country fare, with a saxophone opening the proceedings and the obligatory electric-guitar solo.  It is about a couple that breaks up but can’t leave each other alone.  This went to #25 on the U.S. country chart and also appears on Joe Stampley’s Biggest Hits and Good Ol’ Boy:  His Greatest Hits.
