(Sonny Bono)
The thirteenth
track on Sonny & Cher’s 1967 album, In Case You’re in Love. It reached a modest #53 on the
charts. The rhythm of the song
is akin to a carousel waltz. An
innocent little ditty about a pair of strangers who meet and are starved
for company, it’s about the innate need for human contact. In the second verse, Jane is so
starved for company, she talks to a tree. (The tree doesn’t talk
back.) The song appears on a number
of compilations, including The Best
of Sonny & Cher, I Got You
Babe and Other Hits, The Singles+
and Sonny & Cher’s Greatest
Hits.
