     Concert for Chamber Orchestra

    (George Antheil)

One of the last things Antheil wrote in France before moving back to the States, his Concert for Chamber Orchestra originally went by the moniker Octet for Winds, belying the influence of Stravinsky while very much keeping with the composer's own unique style.  It was actually written on commission for the League of Composers, who debuted the work on 6th March, 1932, at one of their concerts.
