    Hernando's Hideaway

    (Richard Adler/Jerry Ross)

This song is about an actual speakeasy in East Dubuque, Illinois.  It was written for the Broadway musical The Pajama Game and reached No. 2 on the Billboard charts for Archie Bleyer.  Cover versions have also been made by Enoch Light, David Clayton Thomas, Debelah Morgan sampled it for her hit "Dance With Me" and an instrumental section of the song was used in the movie Snatch.  It has become a nickname for the smoking room in the House of Commons in London.
