Mittoo based the song on "Pass the Koutchie" which they had originally written
and was sung by the Mighty Diamonds. It is about marijuana so "Koutchie"
was changed to "Dutchie" which is a Dutch cooking pot. The song reached No.1 in the UK
in 1982 and No.10 in the US
in 1983 and sold over 4 million copies worldwide. It was nominated for a Grammy Award.
