    Piano Concerto No. 2 in E major, Op. 12

    (Eugen d'Albert)

     

    This was written in 1893 was the last composition d'Albert wrote in this form.  It comprises four movements with a slow movement which opens with a cello solo and wind instrumentation which has been likened to Strauss, a scherzo which has been likened to Mendelssohn in its lightness, and  a grand finale.  The movements are:

     

    I.                    Massig Bewegt

    II.                 Langsam

    III.               Sehr Lebhaft

    IV.              Wie Vorher
