    Podunk

    (Sonny Bono)

The sixth track from Sonny & Cher’s 1967 release, In Case You’re in Love.  It also appears on the compilations:  At Their Best, Sonny & Cher’s Greatest Hits, and The Two of Us.  A vaudevillian novelty record, with corny jokes sandwiched in between nonsense lyrics, Cher doing her best Mae West impersonation, and a Dixieland instrumental break, this was a fore-runner to the shtick that would pervade their TV show.  The pair also performed it on a 5th March 1967 airing of The Andy Williams Show.
