    Scarecrow, The

    (Keith Helliwell/Rob Mackenzie)

This song was written at first as a poem by Keith Helliwell that was published for use in a children’s book.  Rob Mackenzie then saw the poem and wrote some accompanying music for it which they thought was complimentary to the title.

The words of the poem have been kept in their entirety  for the song with the addition of another two lines that are spoken.

When the demo of the song was first recorded, the musician Kim Guy described the music as “a great vibe, the guitar on Scarecrow is gorgeous”.

The song was recorded by the duo Northeastern Sunrise in 2010 at Strathsound Studio in Struy, Inverness-shire and included as the third track of their EP Expectation.
