    Sidewalk Romeo (Angel of Mercy)

    (Frank Czuri/Michael John Harbadin/Warren King/Dennis Takos)

    The Silencers recordings

    Precision ZS6 01018 (ZS6 01018-3) (US promo 45)

The first track on The Silencers' 1981 release, Romantic.  A blues-rock guitar riff opens over a pounding piano and a filthy sax solo, and then the singing starts.  The parenthetical insert is a counter-chorus that belies the dearth of ideas.  A strange mix of Bob Dylan/Mick Jagger/Peter Wolf half-singing over a top-notch instrumental and rhythm section.
