     Suite of Scottish Dances

    (William Alwyn)

     

    This suite was written in 1946 and the composer based his dances on genuine Scottish tunes.  The dances that appear are:

     

    (i)                  The Indian Queen

    (ii)                A Trip To Italy

    (iii)               Colonel Thornton's Strathspey

    (iv)              The Perthshire Hunt - Reel

    (v)                Loch Earn - Reel

    (vi)              Carleton House

    (vii)             Miss Ann Carnegie's Hornpipe
