(Stan Irvin/Lan O'Kun)

The flip side to "Theme from New York, New York" is a
valentine from a father to a son, answering the question implied in the
title. It is essentially a
list of metaphors and similes, as the father tries to put into words what
God represents to him, and finally arrives at the touching conclusion that
his son is the answer. Buoyed
by the success of the A side, "That's What God Looks Like To Me" became
half of the #60 single of 1980.
It appears on The Complete
Reprise Studio Recordings and Trilogy: Past Present Future, which
peaked at #17 and was nominated for a Grammy. The song has been covered by Wayne Meacham on his album Family Ties, Tamara O'Leary on her
2005 release, Moon Soup, and as
recently as 2006 by Don Shelden, with an accompanying book that illustrates
the lyrics.
