    Triana

    (Isaac Albeniz)

This piece of music is the third and final work from Book 2 of the collection of Spanish music and dances, Iberia.  Triana is the gypsy quarter in the Spanish city of Seville with flamenco traditions, and the music is a mixture of a Pasodoble and a Sevillanas, with taconeo (heelwork) and castanets adding to the rhythm.  A secondary theme using variations is used before the original music is reinstated and also concludes the piece.
