The piece was commissioned by Keith Lockhart and the
Boston Pops Orchestra in honor of the
4th July 1999 celebrations to mark the last one of the centenary. It pays tribute to all the Americans
of the past few centuries that have fought in the name of equal rights and
freedom and premiered on 5th May 1999.
