version of the song was recorded by Matt Bianco in 1985 and reached the No.
13 spot in the UK
chart. It was originally a Latin soul instrumental piece which Jon
Hendricks later provided the lyrics to before recording it at the Newport
Jazz Festival in 1963. It
became a No. 1 chart hit for Georgie Fame, as well as reaching the No. 25
spot in the US
charts in 1965. The song
has also been covered by the group They Might Be Giants and is featured in
the films Good Morning Vietnam
and Shanghai Knights.
