Shulman, Nora

She is a flautist and teacher born in Los Angeles, California, who studied at the California State University, Northridge.

She became a member of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in 1974, which led to her becoming Principal Flautist in 1986.  Often appearing as a soloist she has appeared with several other orchestras that include the Detroit Symphony and the National Arts Centre Orchestra and has worked in collaboration with the harpist Judy Loman and the guitarist Norbert Kraft.  Alongside her long-term work with the TSO, she has also been the second flute at Denver Symphony and co-principal flute of Aspen Chamber Symphony.

No stranger to the recording studio, she has appeared on numerous albums which include Giuliani: Duets for Flute and Guitar with Norbert Kraft, Dance of the Blessed Spirit with Judy Loman, Ravel: Melodies with Catherine Robbins & Andre Laplante, Adeste Fidelis with Gino & Louis Quilico, Judy Loman and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra & Chorus as well as Chill With Bach, Flute Moments, Greig for Meditation and Discover Your Genius among many others.

In the field of musical education she is on the faculty of the Royal Conservatory of Music and is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Music at the University of Toronto.
