He was a bass player from the United States who had begun in music by performing on the drums. He changed to the bass and when he was 13 years old he became a member of the group Boundaries. With them he saw a modicum of success with the minor hit record “Raving Mad”.
He went on to work as a sideman for several artists and was also a member of Seven and Steppenwolf. The acts he performed with included Albert Collins, Mac Davis, Lou Rawls, Helen Reddy, Carla Thomas and Wolfman Jack.
He became a member of the group Three Dog Night in 1973 as a replacement for Joe Schermie. He remained with them for two years appearing on several of their hit records and the albums Coming Down Your Way and Hard Labor.
After having suffered depression he died in 1996 when he was just 46 years old.
