Los Angeles Guitar Quartet

Familiarly known as LAGQ, this quartet was put together by Anisa Angarola  in 1980 with the added assistance of  Pepe Romero who made his name as a classical and flamenco guitarist as a solo artist and from renowned The Romero Guitar Quartet.

The were established at University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music and since the 1990s have been acclaimed for their accomplished performances and interpretations that cover a huge range of music that includes classical, folk, Celtic, rock, jazz, contemporary, bluegrass and other music from all over the world.  They also include music that was written by Andrew York who was a member of the quartet for 16 years until 2006.

With their excellent reputation they are very popular concert performers and their work in the studio, which began with their first recording in 1993, has brought them many hits on the album charts and Grammy nominations for Interchange and LAGQ Latin.  They received a Grammy Award in 2005 for their CD Guitar Heroes.

Other albums they have released include Air and Ground, Dances from Renaissance to Nutcracker, Evening in Granada, Labyrinth, For Thy Pleasure, LAGQ Brazil and Spin.
