Orchestra of the Opera Lyon (Orchestre de l’Opera National de Lyon)

This orchestra was founded in Lyon, France and gave it’s first performance in 1831.  It now gives its performances at the Opera Nouvel which is the modernized original 1831 opera house.

The orchestra went on to give many French premieres and world premieres of major operas in the 19th and 20th centuries and after 1969 many premieres of 20th Century Operas and French Operas were stage after the appointment of Louis Erlo as theur general director.

The orchestra has had many renowned and respected conductors that include John Elio Gardener, Kent Nagano, Louis Langree, Ivan Fischer, Kazushi Ono and from 2017 Daniele Rustioni.

They have performed on over 60 recordings and in 1999 received the Victoire de la Musique for the best lyric or symphonic formation.
