Slovak State Philharmonic Orchestra, Kosice (CSSR)

This orchestra has been together since 1968 when it was conducted by Bystrik Rezucha.  Since then, it has been led by Stanislav Macura, Ladislav Slovak, and Richard Zimmer.

It has toured extensively throughout Europe and is a mainstay at the Contemporary Art Festival, the Kosice International Organ Festival and Kosice Musical Spring.

Recordings on which the Slovak State Philharmonic appears include Christmas Goes Baroque 1Grieg:  Peer Gynt Suites Nos. 1 and 2/3 Orchestral Pieces from Sigurd JorsalfarRomantic French Music for Guitar and Orchestra, and Southern France:  A Musical Tour of Provence, Cote d’Azur and Camarge.  They also took on the ambitious task of recording the complete instrumental works of Johann Strauss II and Josef Strauss on the Marco Polo label.
