Stanley Brothers, The

One of the first bluegrass duos, Ralph and Carter Stanley (who played banjo and guitar, respectively) may now be best known for their original recording of “I’m A Man Of Constant Sorrow”, which was later re-popularized thanks to the 2001 O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack, on which their “Angel Band” and “O Death” also appear.

Carter Stanley, who was regarded as one of the greatest singing talents in country and western music, passed away in 1965. Brother Ralph continued to performi under the brothers’ original moniker, The Clinch Mountain Boys.
