Meyer, Joe

French horn player who acquired his Bachelor’s degree in music from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1970.  His teachers included Howard Hillyer, Verne Reynolds and Forest Stanley.

Groups with whom he has performed include the California Brass Ensemble, the Civic Light Opera, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, the Joffrey Ballet, the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Opera, the Santa Monica Symphony, and the Westwood Wind Quintet.

In the fall of 2009, he was in the orchestra pit for a production of Parade by Jason Robert Brown and Alfred Uhry at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, California.

He participated in the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra’s celebration of Ludwig van Beethoven’s 75th anniversary on 23rd May 2010 when members of the LBSO performed the master’s “Septet” at Madison Restaurant.

On 27th May 2010, he was in the brass section for opening night of South Pacific at the Ahmanson Theatre in L.A.

In the field of music education, he has served on the faculties of California State University in Long Beach, Pepperdine University, and the University of California in Santa Barbara.
