Na, Mu (1976-Present)

She is a violinist born in TainJing, China, whose father was a professional violin teacher who made his own violins for children and taught them his own methods.

She attended her first school in Tainjing and then proceeded to enter Beijing’s Central Conservatory of Music in 1986.  Two years later she was a winner of the Chinese nationwide Violin Competition and in 1989 went to London and came third in the Menuhin International Violin Competition which led to her getting a recommendation from jurors and the chance attend the Juilliard School of Music.  Although this was hampered by the inability of her mother to gain a visa, she travelled to the United States alone, not knowing anyone there, and went on to be recommended to enter the Curtis Institute of Music by her teacher at Juilliard. She remained there for five years until 1999.

Her professional music career has seen her performing as a solo recitalist and appearing in many concerts as 1st Violin of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia.  She has also performed with Dolce Suono in their Samuel Barber at 100: The Composer and His World and worked in a duo with her husband, the keyboardist and composer Vitalij Kuprij.

The albums she has appeared on include VK3 by Vitaly Kuprij.
