Nordman, Marielle (24th January 1941-Present)

She is a harp soloist and artistic director, born in Montpellier, France. She studied at the Paris Conservatoire under Lily Laskine and graduated in 1958, but the two would record and perform together for several years.

She began a partnership with Jean-Pierre Rampal and through him she began recording work by the jazz influenced classical composer Claude Bolling.

She has performed as a soloist and member of ensembles, and has appeared with groups and artists such as the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra in Budapest, The Debussy Quartet, Syrinx and the Helsinki Philharmonic. Championing the composers Elias Parish Alvars and Francois-Adrien Boieldieu she has made several acclaimed recordings.

Working as an artistic director she has been actively involved in the Lily Laskine Festival, and as a teacher she has given guidance to many harp students at the Paris Conservatoire.  Receiving many awards, she has also been honoured with the Chevalier of the Legion of Honor.
