Norman, Daniel (1969/70?-Present)

He is a tenor born in Lichfield, England, who began his singing career as a boy soprano at Lichfield Cathedral from 1979 to 1984 and made several recordings and broadcasts from there.

He was a choral scholar at Wells before accepting a choral scholarship awarded by New College, Oxford, where he also studied engineering.  He travelled to Tanglewood in the United States and Banff in Canada to take further studies and also studied Bach, English Song and French Song at the Britten-Pears School in Aldeburgh, England.  Toward the end of the 1990s he enrolled in the Opera Course run by London’s Royal Academy of Music.

Regularly singing with ensemble and orchestras he has sung with the BBC Philharmonic, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra & Chorale, the New London Chamber Choir, London Symphony Orchestra, Northern Sinfonia, Oxford Camerata and Oxford Lieder to name just a few.

His solo work is highly acclaimed and he has recorded and sung in recitals all over the world at music festivals and venues such as St. Martin in the Fields and Tanglewood Music Center.

A noted opera singer, he has appeared in many productions by composers that include Benjamin Britten, Leo Janacek and Johannes Brahms to name a few.

Likewise, his performances in oratorios by composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Carl Orff, Gioachino Rossini, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozarth, Ludwig von Beethoven and Georg Frideric Handel have also brought him much recognition.
