Pagano, Gerry

He is a bass trombonist and teacher born in Athens Georgia, who, when he was young, started to play his father’s trombone and then played in a trombone choir when he was at music camp in Brevard, North Carolina.  He went on to study music at the University of Georgia and the Juilliard School of Music.

In 1987, after he graduated, he became trombonist for the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra and he stayed with them for 8 seasons before moving on.

He has been a bass trombonist for the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra since 1995 and is also a member of their Community Partnership Program where he performs in trios, brass quintets and quartets at local churches and schools.

Having featured with several other orchestras and artists he has been heard with Sammy Davis Jr., Bob Hope, Johnny Mathis, the Boston Symphony, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony, New Jersey Symphony at the Teton Music Festival and in productions of Annie and a Chorus Line.

Aside from his performing he is also on the SLSO’s Musician’s Council and occasionally on an audition committee.

As a teacher he gives regular master classes and is an Instructor of Euphonium, Trombone and Tuba at the University of Missouri in Saint Louis.
