Quinn, David

Clarinetist from Grande Prairie, Alberta, who attended Arizona State University, where his mentors included Ronald Dekant and Ernest Dalwood.  In 1989, he joined the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, and now serves as Assistant Principal Clarinet.  He also appeared on the Edmonton Wind Ensemble’s 1997 album, Snake Fence Country.

Other groups with whom he has worked include the Arizona State University Symphony Orchestra, the Edmonton Youth Orchestra, the Mexico City Philharmonic, the Phoenix Symphony, and the St. Cecilia Orchestra.

On 7th February 2001, he helped premiere Robert Rosen’s “Glimpses of Grace” at The WinspearCentre for the Arts in tandem with the St. Crispin’s Chamber Ensemble.  He also plays bass clarinet, as he did for the University of Alberta’s 2008-2009 New Music series, performing works by composers such as Howard Bashaw, Mark Hannesson, and Andriy Talpash.

On 16th January 2009, he reunited with St. Crispin’s Chamber Ensemble for a concert at Amber’s Brewery in a program that included “Concerto for Two Clarinets in D minor” by Georg Philipp Telemann.
