He was a pianist and organist who studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music and has performed as a soloist and accompanist with many singers and ensembles at several of the major concert halls in New York. He would also accompany them on tours of the United States and Canada and perform on their recordings.
The artists and ensembles he accompanied during his career include Kathleen Battle, the Robert DeCormier Singers, the David Dusing Singers, Yo-Yo Ma, Wynton Marsalis, the New York Choral Society for nearly four decades, Jessye Norman, the Oratorio Society of New York and Andre Previn along with many others.
Alongside working as an accompanist he also served as the Music Director of the Church of Incarnation.
Recordings he performed on include his own Music, Martinis and Memories along with Christmas Songs from round the World, The First Nowell, Oh! You Beautiful Doll and A Victorian Christmas by The Robert DeCormier Singers, Cool of the Day: The Music of Jean Ritchie and Rags and Riches by the David Dusing Singers and Island of Hope: New American Choral Music by the New Amsterdam Singers.
