He is a horn player, composer, arranger and teacher born in Concord, Massachusetts, who studied at Indiana University, the New England Conservatory, the Tanglewood Music Center and the University of Washington.
In his career as a professional musician he was in a progressive rock band in the 1970s before performing as Principal Horn of the Rochester Philharmonic. He then took on the position of Principal Horn of the Boston Pops Orchestra and the Associate Principal Horn of the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1981. He has also recently performed as a member of the Concord Orchestra in Massachusetts.
Outside of his work with the BSO he can often be heard on film and television music soundtracks and popular music recordings.
Some of these recordings include Alfred Genovese: Oboe, October Road by James Taylor, Pops in Love by the Boston Pops Orchestra and a solo performance for the soundtrack of Saving Private Ryan.
As a composer and arranger he has been nominated for an Emmy Award and written works that include “Gifts of Great Meadow” and arranged ceremonial and holiday pieces for performance by the Boston Pops.
He is also the founder of Musketaquid Music.
In the field of musical education he has been a member of the faculty of Tanglewood Music Center, Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory.
