Woods, Stanley (1933-February 2020)

He was a trumpeter, conductor and composer who performed with many ensembles, orchestras and artists throughout his career, which started in the 1950s, including the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble and the London Symphony Orchestra.

He began to conduct in 1975 and followed that by creating his own compositions and later playing more in the field of jazz music.

The albums he performed on include The Beatles 20 Greatest Hits, 1 and  “All You Need is Love” featured on their Magical Mystery Tour, If You Go Away: The Reca Years by Rod McKuen, The Symphonic Music of Yes by Bill Bruford, Bernstein Narrates Bernstein: The Holocaust Remembered by Morris Bernstein, Music from the Royal Court, Music for Symphonic Brass and Festive Brass by the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble and the soundtrack of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
