Eastman-Rochester Pops Orchestra

This orchestra is an offshoot of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra aka the Eastman-Rochester Orchestra based in New York.  Frederick Fennell, who was also the founder of the Eastman Wind Ensemble, was the first and long-time conductor from the 1950s, and together they made literally hundreds of recordings including the debut recording of Leroy Anderson’s “Song of Jupiter”.

Performing many concerts they have backed Lou Rawls in the concert Lou Rawls Sings Sinatra and the Principal Conductor of the Pops Orchestra today is the Rochester Philharmonic’s Jeff Tyzik who has been in the position since 1994.
