Phoenix, Paul

He is an English tenor who started as a chorister at St Paul’s Cathedral and made several successful recordings with them including the Ivor Novello Award Winner for the theme to Tinker Sailor Soldier Spy in 1979.

He studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and worked as a freelance singer for 6 years backing artists such as Elaine Paige and coaching the boy trebles of Westminster Under School.

He became member of the King’s Singers in 1997 and retired from the ensemble in 2014 when he created the coaching and engagement consultancy PurpleSingers: Perform and Engage.
