Kurtis, Stanley

Violinist who attended the New York String Orchestra Seminar and Rockland Conservatory of Music and studied with Ed and Janet Simons.

Groups with whom he has worked include the Columbia Festival Orchestra, the MMG Orchestra, the New York Pops, and the Orchestra of the 20th Century.

On 25th July 1987, he performed Max Bruch’s “Scottish Fantasy” at the Summerfare Festival in Lyndhurst, New Jersey.

He participated in the Columbia Festival Orchestra’s 20th Anniversary Concert on 26th and 27th July 2008.  The program comprised “Knoxville:  Summer of 1915” by Samuel Barber, the world premiere of “Prelude to a New Theatre” by David Grunberg, “Symphony No. 1” (“Classical”) by Sergei Prokofiev, and “Symphony No. 7” by Ludwig van Beethoven.

Recordings on which he appears include “Erwartung, Op. 17” by Arnold Schoenberg, with the Orchestra of the 20th Century, and Straight on till Morning by Blues Traveler.

He can also be heard on the soundtracks of Bullets over BroadwayEveryone Says I Love You, and Scent of a Woman.
