Lim-Dutton, Elizabeth

Violinist who started training at three years of age and gave her inaugural performance when she was five years old.

She attended Juilliard, the Professional Children’s School and the Yale School of Music, and studied with Dorothy DeLay and Paul Kantor.

In 1992, she became a member of the Steve Reich Ensemble.  Other groups with whom she has worked include the Diamarel Trio, the New Haven Symphony, the New York City Ballet Orchestra, the New York City Opera National Company, the New York Pops, the New York Virtuosi Quartet, the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, L’Orchestre de Bayonne-Cote Basque, L’Orchestre de Bordeaux, the Stamford Symphony, and the Trinity String Quartet.

From 29th April 1997 through 27th July 1997, she was in the orchestra pit for a Broadway revival of Leonard Bernstein’s Candide.  Her other theatrical credits comprise La BohemeA Catered AffairCoram BoyFolliesGhost the MusicalPromises, PromisesRagtimeThe Sound of Music, and The Story of My Life.

In 1998, her recording of Music for 18 Musicians by Steve Reich won a Grammy in the category of Best Performance by a Small Ensemble.  Her discography also includes Echo by Alyssa Graham, The Great Burrito Extortion Case by Bowling for Soup, Greatest Hits:  TKO Love by Teddy Pendergrass, It is Time for a Love Revolution by Lenny Kravitz, Line by Line by John Patitucci, The Other Side of Time by Mary Fahl, and Promises Kept by Steve Kuhn.

On 5th June 2003, she helped deliver the world premieres of Doug Varone’s “Distance” and “Of the Earth Below” and the New York premiere of his “Proverb” with Doug Varone and Dancers at Symphony Space in Manhattan, New York.

In July 2011, she participated in the C.W. Post Chamber Music Festival at Long Island University in New York.
