Shook, Dr. Brian

He is a trumpeter, cornet player, author and teacher born in Ohio who studied at Cedarville University and the Arizona State University.  At the same time that he was undertaking his studies he was involved in the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, Michigan, where he held the position of Production Manager.

 In his professional career he has been heard with many orchestras and ensembles that include the Salt River Brass, Symphony of the West Valley, Phoenix Bach Choir, Tim Zimmerman & The King’s Brass, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, the New Mexico Symphony, The Phoenix Symphony and the Bay Street Brassworks.  In the recording studio he has featured on several recordings by Tim Zimmerman & The King’s Brass including Classic Hymns and Best of Organ & Brass.

As a teacher he has been an assistant tutor in trumpet and assistant librarian at the Arizona State University, lectured at an International Trumpet Guild Conference, performed in many masterclasses with the Bay Street Brassworks and has been a member of the faculty of Baltimore’s Towson University and Lamar University.

In the writing side of his career he has contributed articles to many worldwide publications including the New York Times and the London Times, regularly writes reviews and articles for the International Trumpet Guild Journal and published the biography of the trumpeter William Vacchiano in 2009.
