Percussionist who has worked with Afro Celt Sound System, La Banda Europa, the Battlefield Band, the Bevvy Sisters, Big Sky, the Celtic Tenors, the Funky String Band, the Gardyne Chamber Ensemble, Mouth Music, Mr. McFall’s Chamber, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Rua Collection, Shooglenifty, Solas, the Stobo Village Band, the String Sisters, Swamptrash, the True North Orchestra, and Unusual Suspects.

His arsenal of instruments includes bass drums, bells, bongos, cajon, darabuka (darbouka), djembe, drums, hand drums, hi hat, kashishi, pandeiro, shaker, snake drum and tom-toms.

In February 2004, Unusual Suspects appeared at Eden Court Theatre in “The Big Set” which featured “The Balnain Reel” by Corrina Hewat, Wee Michael’s March by John McCusker, and the traditional tunes, “The Pirriwig” and “Willie’s Auld Trews”.

Mr. McFall’s Chamber performed at Queens Hall in Edinburgh, on 26^th October 2006. Their program included “Aye”, “Cuillin”, “Knives in Hens” and “Piece for String Quartet, Percussion & Scottish Small Pipes in C” by Martyn Bennett, “Metro Chabacano” by Javier Alvarez and “Pequena Suite Cubana” by Fabio Landa.

On 16^th January 2008, the Stobo Village Band, which consists of James, piper Ross Ainslie, accordionist Lewis Powell-Reid, fiddler Martin Swan and percussionist Fraser Watson, gave their inaugural performance in Glasgow.

The RSNO participated in Burns Night at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow on 25^th January 2009. On the musical menu: “Bridging the Gap” by Patsy Reid, “Coriolis” by Aidan O’Rourke, “Drivel” by Chris Stout and “Liberation” by Martyn Bennett.

In 2010, the True North Orchestra appeared at the Main Concert Hall in Glasgow and Shooglenifty participated in the Celtic Music Festival at Ortigueira, Galicia, Spain.

The Funky String Band took part in the National Folk Festival at Stock Camp in 2012, when they performed “Sarah Hoy’s” by Luke Plumb, which is featured on the album, Mongrel Unleashed.
