Smith, Howard “Russell” (17th June 1949-Present)

He is a guitarist and singer-songwriter born in Nashville, Tennessee, who was a founder member of the band Amazing Rhythm Aces.  When the group split in 1981 he went on to Nashville and gained success as a songwriter with tracks written for artists including Randy Travis, Mel McDaniel, Ricky Van Shelton and Don Williams.

He has released self-titled albums since the 1970s and launched his solo career in 1984.  In 1988 he was signed to Epic Records and released the album This Little Town in 1989.  His “I Wonder What She’s Doing Tonight” reached No. 37 on the Billboard country chart that same year.

In 1993 he became a member of the group Run C&W.
