Re: Wasn't it because of Davy Jones?

Post by jodlyn »

I saw an interview one time where Bowie told his real name which is David Robert Jones. He said at the time he was getting into show business, Davy Jones (London stage player and lead singer of the Monkees) was getting really popular. Bowie didn't want to be mistaken for Jones.

Oohh..Oohhh..I remember this, I think. :)
Ron Dante did the vocals on both songs if I'm remembering right. He was singing in both bands at the time.

I'm going to take a stab at this one. I'll say it was the Shargri-Las for "Leader of the Pack"...maybe. If that's not correct, give me one more chance. And maybe a LITTLE hint...the year perhaps?

You hit on it with the S start to the name. :)

This group was the first to hit #1 on the Billboard top 100 in 1960.

New question!

Post by jodlyn »

Jack Norworth and Nora Bayes co-wrote Shine On, Harvest Moon. Norworth also co-wrote a song in 1908, with Albert Von Tilzer, that thousands of people sing every day in the United States for approximately six months out of the year.

What is the song?

It's "Take Me Out to the Ball Game!" :D Good one, Jody!

Rats...I don't have a question now.

Okay...here's an easy one. Who's actually singing the high falsetto lead on the Beach Boy's version of "Barbara Ann?" Hint...on the extended version you can hear someone thank him. It's NOT one of the Beach Boys.

It's Dean Torrance of Jan and Dean.

And you're correct with your answer up above. :)
