Post by tmac396 »

...it probably IS an easy one, but I don't know it. Can you give us a clue?

They were Little Boy Blue as far as I know when they were at college/school in London (or it may have been in Kent).

Here's another clue...

What was the song that Lulu had a hit with after she appeared in a film of the same name about school kids in London?
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

It was "To Sir, With Love" and it was a good song AND movie.
Here's an easy one for you, Fee, I'm sure.

What was Lulu's real name?

I KNOW!!! [waving hand madly in the air]

I know Fee could answer this one in a second though.

It's Marie Macdonald Maclaughlan Lawrie. I was reading some time ago about how she received an honorary degree from Glasgow Caledonian University.

I can't remember where I put my purse from day to day, but trivia sticks for some reason! :D

until I know for sure I'm right. It's the teacher in me I suppose. :)

Okay..I'll make this a challenging one then.

Which song written by the ("Shine on Harvest Moon") team of Jack Norworth and Nora Bayes is sung 6 months out of the year and almost every day in the U.S.?

That's "Take Me Out to the Ball Game"

I love this time of year...it's almost time to go see the Memphis Redbirds play! :D

Next:

The Turtles were originally known by another name. What was it and what type music did they play before their label. White Whale, nudged them in a different direction?

Yes, you're right...

Give that man a big ol' fat cigar!

The Turtles were orginally known as Crossfires from the Planet Mars who played surfer type music. I have no idea how they got the original name, but I like the Turtles better. I've always liked "Happy Together!"

Next tidbit:

What singer is known as the Empress of the Blues?

CORRECT!

Post by tmac396 »

I'm so impressed! Most people, if they know it at all, just know them as the Crossfires, leaving of the "from the Planet Mars" part. Very good! :D

I'm not sure about the answer to yours, but I'll be thinking on it!

Great job! :5170: She was really something wasn't she??

Okay..on to your question. The Long Cool Woman was 5' 9" beautiful tall. I know because I'm singing it right now. :)

Bonus question...how big were her...uhmmm...well...you know...?
45's?? [blush]

If I'm right, then here's the next question:

Jody, you even blushingly got the bonus question correct. Good job! :5170:
I could never understand those lyrics.

Your question...I think I'm right on this. I heard this on the radio one night long ago and it stuck with me. Was it Chevy Chase? I'll wait for a confirmation before I post another question.

I have another Steely Dan question, but I think I'll let it slide...

You ASKED for it! Where did Steely Dan get their name? You may be as specific as you DARE!!! :D

For the more faint of heart, here's an alternate question:

What late sixties/early seventies guitar great once opened for the Monkees before he became well-known?
