You've Got To Hide Your Love Away - The Beatles

Post by fiona »

It's such a great song Papamouse and one of my favourites of theirs. :D

Try these:

Sun lights up the daytime,
Moon lights up the night
And I light up when you call my name
And Oooh I'm gonna treat you right
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

Re: Fever by Peggy Lee

One of my favorite sultry songs!

Here's one:

I was born in the wagon of a travellin' show
My mama used to dance for the money they'd throw
Papa would do whatever he could
Preach a little gospel, sell a couple bottles of Doctor Good
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves by Cher

Post by fiona »

Great song. 8)

Try these ones...

I see the crystal raindrops fall
And see the beauty of it all
Is when the sun comes shining through
To make those rainbows in my mind
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

Just the Two of Us - Bill Withers

Post by PapaMouse »

Covered by Grover Washington, Jr.

Try these:

Your flag is flying full
At half mast, for the matadors
Who turned their backs to please the crowd
And all fell before the bull
Lord, you have filled my cup so full,
How can I fear tomorrow?

Re: Requiem For The Masses by the Association

I haven't heard that song in a long time, Papa. Thanks for the memory jog.

Never dream't I would hope
While I count the miles
Through the wind and the rain
I can see your smile
There ain't no turning back
I can see it in the distance
Got it in my sight
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

Meet Me Halfway - Moody Blues

Post by fiona »

We do like our Moody Blues here. :D

Try these ones..

His mother told him someday you will be a man
And you will be the leader of a big old band
Many people comin' from miles around
To hear you play your music when the sun goes down
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

Johnny B. Goode - Chuck Berry (and many others)

Post by PapaMouse »

I have recordings by Mr Berry, The Beatles, Johnny Rivers, Jimi Hendrix, and "Marty McFly" & the Starlighters.

Try these:

Well we drank champagne and danced all night
Under electric candlelight.
She picked me up and sat me on her knee
And said "Dear boy, won't you come home with me?"
Lord, you have filled my cup so full,
How can I fear tomorrow?

Re: Lola by the Kinks?

Post by jodlyn »

If I'm right, then here are some from a song I heard this morning.

Out where the river broke
the bloodwood and the desert oak
Holden wrecks and boiling diesels
steam in forty five degrees

The time has come
to say fair's fair
to pay the rent
to pay our share
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

Beds Are Burning - Midnight Oil

Post by PapaMouse »

I heard that on the radio just the other night. (And you were right; mine was indeed "Lola".)

Try these:

Wake up in the morning with the sunshine in your eyes
And the smell of flowers blooming fills the air.
Your mind is filled with the thoughts of a certain someone
Lord, you have filled my cup so full,
How can I fear tomorrow?

Love Can Make You Happy by Mercy.

The movie was one of those cheesy B movies I always love to watch on Saturday mornings. Good clue, Papa. It took me a while to think of the name.

If I'm right, here's mine:

Ain't it hard to stumble
And land in some funny lagoon?
Ain't it hard to stumble
And land in some muddy lagoon?
Especially when it's nine below zero
And three o'clock in the afternoon.
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

Good one, Jody!

That's "Outlaw Blues" by Bob Dylan. Not to be confused with "Outlaw Blues" by Bobby Ogden, AKA Peter Fonda from the movie of the same name! :D

Next...

a rich man man, a poor man, a beggar
no matter whoever you are
there's a friend who's waiting to guide you
...

This was ALSO from a movie.
Toolin' down the highway doing 79,
I'm a twin-pipe papa and I'm feeling fine...

Re: Thanks..yours is an excellent one!

and just so happens to be from a movie in my B movie collection. :)

It's "Look For a Star" by Gary Mills from "Circus of Horrors". I love that movie.

Next up:

Now we gotta run, mmmm-mm-mm
No more time for fun, mmmm-mm-mm
When we're gettin' angry, mmmm-mm-mm
We will yell with all of our might
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

Catch Us If You Can - The Dave Clark Five.

(RIP Mike Smith)

Try these:

you were there
But only didn't realize it and you were scared.
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the tears
And ride the whims of your mind
Lord, you have filled my cup so full,
How can I fear tomorrow?

I have to admit that I've been pondering this one and I just can't come up with it. Maybe I need a little clue, or maybe I just don't know it! :17418:
