Got To Get You Into My Life - The Beatles.

Post by PapaMouse »

I've been listening to this CD off and on for a couple of days, so these lyrics are still in my mind. See if you recognize them:

I've heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn.
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return.

Well, I don't know if I believe that's true.
But I know I'm who I am today...
Lord, you have filled my cup so full,
How can I fear tomorrow?

Re: Is this from the play "Wicked?"

Post by jodlyn »

I think it's called "For Good!" I heard it just yesterday on a Superman episode, and I thought of your lyrics.

If I'm right, then here's an easy one:

Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope, the weary soul rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees, oh, hear the angel voices!
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

Yes, it is "For Good". (For those who aren't familiar with it, the lyrics continue with:

But I know I'm who I am today
Because I knew you...

Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun.
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through a wood.
Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
I have been changed for good.

I think MamaMouse would have loved Wicked.)

By the by, jody :5086: , yours is "Cantique de Noel" (aka "Oh Holy Night"), one of my favorite-est Christmas carols.

So... Try these lyrics:
You, your life can be a holiday
Everyday when He is with you.
Hey, let's get back to what it's all about.
Shout it out. Christ is the reason.

We all know it's better to give than receive
His gift is for those who believe.
You got it if you want it. Just believe.
Lord, you have filled my cup so full,
How can I fear tomorrow?

I heard it towards the end of the show, and I couldn't believe it. I've been trying to figure yours out for the longest time. Good clue and what beautiful lyrics. They're very true, and from what you've told us all about Mama Mouse, she would have loved the song and the play very much. Thank you for posting the lyrics. :1013:

I've heard the words before. Is it "Reason for the Season?" Our church's youth group sang this last year for their Christmas concert. I don't know who sings it though.

Continuing in the Christmas vein:

Here we are as in olden days,
happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who are dear to us
gather near to us once more.
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Post by fiona »

I adore that song as it just says it all in some ways. :)

Here's more....

Our cheeks are nice and rosy
and comfy cozy are we
We're snuggled up together
Like two birds of a feather would be
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

Good one, Fee!

That's "Sleigh Ride" which is one of my favorites, Especially instrumentally by The Ventures!

Okey, dokey...try these...

Holidays are joyful
There's always something new
But every day's a holiday,
When I'm near to you
The lights on my tree
I wish you could see
I wish it every day
Log's on the fire, filled me with desire
To see you and to say ...
Toolin' down the highway doing 79,
I'm a twin-pipe papa and I'm feeling fine...

Your's is one of the more beautiful Carpenter songs.

Merry Christmas Darling! :)

Try this one by well known duet singers!

The fire is slowly fading
Chill is in the air
All the gifts are waiting
For children ev'rywhere
Through the window, I can see
Snow begin to fall
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

The Greatest Gift Of All - Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers

Post by fiona »

Good one Jody. :D

Here's more to try...

When we finally kiss goodnight,
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight,
All the way home I'll be warm.
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

That's "Let it Snow" by many, my favorite of whicjh is the Dean Martin version!

Okay, here's some more...

City street lights, even stop lights, blink a bright red and green,
As the shoppers rush home with their treasures.
Toolin' down the highway doing 79,
I'm a twin-pipe papa and I'm feeling fine...

Silver Bells! Beautiful song!

Here's another...

Say, what's in this drink - No cabs to be had out there
I wish I knew how - Your eyes are like starlight now
To break this spell - I'll take your hat, your hair looks swell
I ought to say no, no, no, sir - Mind if I move a little closer
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

I don't know which version is my favourite

Post by fiona »

Just a couple of lines on this one but it will be got in a second...

Let the Christmas Spirit ring
Later we'll have some pumpkin pie
and we'll do some caroling
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

Re: Rocking Around the Christmas Tree

Post by jodlyn »

My favorite version is by Brenda Lee. Somehow no one else could sing it the way she did.

Try this one. I heard it last night on the Christmas music channel!

I knew I'd caught a glimpse of heaven's love
As he thanked me and ran out
I knew that God had sent that little boy
To remind me just what Christmas is all about
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

The Christmas Shoes I think

Post by fiona »

It it's right here's some more...

There must have been some magic
In that old silk hat they found
For when they placed it on his head
He began to dance around
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

"Frosty the Snownman"...one of my wife's favorites!

Next...

Christmas bells, those Christmas bells
Ringing through the land
Bringing peace to all the world
And good will to man...
Toolin' down the highway doing 79,
I'm a twin-pipe papa and I'm feeling fine...

Next Up:

They know that Santa's on his way
He's loaded lots of toys
And goodies on his sleigh
And every mother's child is gonna spy
To see if reindeer really know how to fly
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!
