5 O'Clock World by the Vogues...

Post by jodlyn »

Great song! Every time someone posts a song here, I hear it in my mind. Thanks everyone for the playlists to download. :)

Okay..try this one!

There's a giant doing cartwheels,
A statue wearing high heels.
Look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn.
A dinosaur Victrola listening to Buck Owens.
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

Looking Out My Back door - Credence Clearwater Revival

Post by tmac396 »

I always heard that "Buck Owens" line as "Listening to begonias"...it made as much sense as the rest of the song!

Here's one of my favorites (I say that all the time don't I?)...

I pulled intp Nazereth, was feeling about half past dead.
I just need a place where I can lay my head.
I said "Mister can you tell me where a man might find a bed?"
He just grinned and shook my hand..."No" was all he said...
Toolin' down the highway doing 79,
I'm a twin-pipe papa and I'm feeling fine...

The Weight - The Band

Post by fiona »

Brill song. 8)

Here's more:

You walked into the party
Like you were walking onto a yacht
Your hat strategically dipped below one eye
Your scarf it was apricot
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

You're So Vain

Carly Simon.

Next:

"When love congeals, it soon reveals
the faint aroma of performing seals,
the double-crossing of a pair of heels..."
Five out of four people have trouble with fractions.

I Wish I Were In Love Again by Rogers and Hart..

Post by jodlyn »

I remember this one from "Babes in Arms!" I love the musicals.

See if you can not only get this one but also post the lyrics... :P

Two shots shy of a 40 ounce quart
A hand in the pocket and a hand in her shorts
Shoot me the two and don't be slow
You've only got one good way to go
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

...that lil' rock and roll band from Texas. Good one Jody! Let's see how far back you guys go...

The sun is out
The sky is blue
There's not a cloud
To spoil the view...
Toolin' down the highway doing 79,
I'm a twin-pipe papa and I'm feeling fine...

Raining in My Heart - Buddy Holly and loads of others since

Post by fiona »

Further back than I care to remember  Did get the best in music though which was the bonus!

Try this song:

If you’re down and confused,
and you don’t remember who you’re talkin’ to
Concentration slips away,
‘cause your baby is so far away.
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

That's "Love the One You're With" ...

Post by tmac396 »

...by Crosby Stills Nash and Young. Good one, Fee. Try this one...

Out here in the fields
I fight for my meals
I get my back into my living
I don't need to fight
To prove I'm right
I don't need to be forgiven
Toolin' down the highway doing 79,
I'm a twin-pipe papa and I'm feeling fine...

It's Baba O'Riley by the Who

Post by jodlyn »

Good one..it took me a while. Ahhh Pete and his opera writing. :D

Btw..did you know it has one of the most misheard lyrics of all time? Most people think these phrases:

A.
A teenage wasteland
B.
Teenage wasteland...We're all wasted.

are:

A.
A teenage waistline...
B.
Teenage spacemen... We're all spacemen.

Whoops..forgot the lyrics to guess! Try this one!

Long as there is chicken gravy on your rice, ev'rything is nice;
Long as there's a watermelon on the vine, ever'thing is fine.
You've got no time to work, no time to play,
Busy doin' nothin' all the live long day;
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

by the the wonderful Hoagy Carmichael and Johnny Mercer. :D

How about these ones:

Song:

How's the weather,
whether or not we're together,
Together we'll see it much better
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

That's "How Can I Be Sure?" by the Rascals

Post by tmac396 »

Another good one, Fee. I had that going through my head all morning befiore I finally came up with it. Heres another:

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose
And most times you choose between the two
Wonderin', wonderin' if you have made it
Toolin' down the highway doing 79,
I'm a twin-pipe papa and I'm feeling fine...

Post by jodlyn »

It's the only thing I can think of.

Good job on the stumping. :)

Nezt up:

Now they are two and I am one.
I cannot fall in love with everyone.
So I must choose between the two.
Made up my mind, now I am choosing you.
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

Kitty Can by the Bee Gees

:D

You're all such a force to be reckoned with on here it's a challenge to make sure they're not too easy.

Try these:

Well I was there and I saw what you did
saw it with my own two eyes
so you can wipe off that grin
I know where you've been
It's all been a pack of lies
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.
