Cool opening lyrics

Post by Gman316 »

Great opening lyrics can really make a song. Name the song and artist/group:

"Look out the left the captain said
The lights down there that's where we'll land
Saw a falling star burning
High above the Las Vegas sand"
"I have a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell!"

This Flight Tonight by Nazareth

Post by fiona »

One of the great Scottish rock groups that are still going today, believe it or not.

How about this one...

He came from somewhere back in her long ago
The sentimental fool don't see
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

Here is another:

"I turn my back to the wind
To catch my breath
Before I start off again.
Driven on without a moment to spend
To pass an evening with a drink and a friend"
"I have a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell!"

That's Rush and Time Stand Still

Post by fiona »

That was a bit more difficult than the Nazareth one. I better really get my thinking cap on for what you're going to throw out next. :P

How about...

I met a gin soaked bar room queen in Memphis
She tried to take me upstairs for a ride
She had to heave me right across her shoulder
Cause I just can't seem to drink you off my mind
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

Elton John not quite sure. Maybe??

Here is another one:

I'm all out of hope
One more bad dream could bring a fall
When I'm far from home
Don't call me on the phone
To tell me you're alone
It's easy to deceive
It's easy to tease
But hard to get release
"I have a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell!"

Dmsesquire's and Gman's here...(I'm cookin'!)

Post by fiona »

Dougs is "Hymn 2000" by Elton John from Empty Sky and Gman, your's is Billy Idol's "Eyes Without a Face".

Try these then...

Don't think me unkind
Words are hard to find
They're only cheques I've left unsigned
From the banks of chaos in my mind
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

Words are hard to find
They're only cheques I've left unsigned
From the banks of chaos in my mind
And when their eloquence escapes me
Their logic ties me up and rapes me
De do do do, de da da da
Is all I want to say to you
De do do do, de da da da

The Future

Post by fiona »

I knew Leonard Cohen would have to creep in somewhere down the line. :P

Try these and I;ll make them a little easier....

I looked out this morning and the sun was gone
Turned on some music to start my day
I lost myself in a familiar song
I closed my eyes and I slipped away
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

I love Boston!! Great song.

Try this one:

"You get up every morning
From your 'larm clock's warning
Take the 8:15 into the city
There's a whistle up above
And people pushin', people shovin'
And the girls who try to look pretty"
"I have a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell!"

Great song! :17091:

Here's one...

"Well, have you seen that girl in the corner?
I'd like to take her out of her chains,
'cause if I had my way with you, baby,
I would be changing your life today."
Five out of four people have trouble with fractions.

"Ebony Eyes" by Bob Welch. I love that song!!

Try this one for size:

It's the same kind of story
That seems to come down from long ago
Two friends having coffee together
When something flies by their window
"I have a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell!"
