Slimane, Laurent Ben (1975-Present)

Clarinetist from France who attended the Conservatoire Superieur de Paris where he studied under Bruno Martinez and Richard Vieille.

In 2005, he became a member of the Philharmonia Orchestra of London. He has served as their principal bass clarinet and also plays the contrabass clarinet.

Other groups with whom he has worked include Ailleur5, whom he co-founded, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the BBC Philharmonic of Manchester, the British Philharmonic Orchestra, Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, the London Chamber Orchestra, the London Sinfonietta, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Northern Sinfonia, Opera de Tours, Opera Eclate, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Sandnes Clarinet Choir.

The Sandnes Clarinet Choir released Windyvision in 2006, and Laurent was one of the soloists. On 2nd June 2011, their recording of “Rikudim” reached #89 on the Japan Classical Music Chart.

In the field of music education, Laurent has taught at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music.
