I know it's very irreverent, but I love it. His songs are just too funny.

He's Got the Whole World In His Hands - Laurie London

Post by PapaMouse »

Until I saw this video, I didn't know that Laurie London was a boy. He was 13 when he had a hit with this song (which would explain why he sounded like a woman. And with a name like Laurie, I just assumed...)

And I'd give up forever to touch you,
Cause I know that you feel me somehow.
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be,
And I don't want to go home right now.

Such pretty lyrics! I love this song! :)

You know when there is always that song you remember specifically from a certain period in your life? This is one of them and I have adored it ever since, as I have Andrew Gold....

You're welcome.:7207: Andrew Gold was, and still is, one of my guilty pleasures and I adore his work with Wax (do you know that duo?)

Ooh-La-La - Goldfrapp

Post by tmac396 »

I don't know anything about this group, but I was introduced to this catchy little song through a Direct TV commercial...

No, Fee, I'm not familiar with Wax. Who was the other half of the duo?

By the way, I like the Chordettes' version of "Never on a Sunday" as well. You never hear it, though.

Puttin' onthe Style - Lonnie Donegan'a Skiffle Group

Post by fiona »

This one brings back major memories for me as my uncle was in a skiffle group when I was a kid and this song was regularly played....

Ride Like the Wind - Christopher Cross

Post by fiona »

When put on an out of 10 scale, I give this one 10/10 every time, but then again with the stunning voice and musicianship of Christopher Cross and backing vocals by Michael McDonald who could ask for any more...

Sentimental Lady - Bob Welch

Post by tmac396 »

Cover of a Fleetwood Mac song from he was still with them. I actually like the Mac version a little better, though, but Bob had the big hit with it...
