The shorty man and wired haired man making music...
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!
Java - Al Hirt
One of the men (and, I think, one of the songs) that inspired me to learn to play the trumpet. I just wish I could play half as well as Mr Hirt.
Lord, you have filled my cup so full,
How can I fear tomorrow?
How can I fear tomorrow?
Key Largo by Bertie Higgins...You played the trumpet?
Another hidden talent being admitted to.PapaMouse wrote:One of the men (and, I think, one of the songs) that inspired me to learn to play the trumpet. I just wish I could play half as well as Mr Hirt.
I remember as a teenager going to see Al Hirt play in the French Quarter in New Orleans. He and Pete Fountain would play together, and the street outside would be rocking. Everyone would sit on the street curbs and just be enthralled. Great music!

Mama - Genesis
My second favourite Genesis song.

Now that sounds wonderful! [jealousy!icon]I remember as a teenager going to see Al Hirt play in the French Quarter in New Orleans. He and Pete Fountain would play together, and the street outside would be rocking. Everyone would sit on the street curbs and just be enthralled. Great music!
If you could see my CD collection, you'd see a preponderance of trumpet-playin' bands: Al Hirt, Dizzy Gillespie, Herb Alpert & TJB, Wynton Marsalis (who learned the trumpet from Al Hirt!), BS&T, Chicago, Chase, Louis Armstrong, Bix Biederbecke, Harry James, Miles Davis, Maynard Ferguson. Not to mention countless classical CDs that feature trumpet music.
Lord, you have filled my cup so full,
How can I fear tomorrow?

Peace In Our Time - Gorky Park
Backing vocals by Jon Bon Jovi. Gorky Park are (were?) a band from the Soviet Union. They got together with Bon Jovi at the Moscow Music/Peace Festival, and this song was one result.
