Oh My..this sounds like my family camping trips...

Post by jodlyn »

It's quite the redneck experience only I didn't know I was so redneck until I heard these lyrics. A whole group of us take tents, RV's, camping trailers and fishing boats and pick camping sites right next to each other. We fish and swim all day and then sit around the open fire at night and spend the night singing to guitar music and eating roasted marshmallows. Sometimes strangers from around the camping park come over and join in with the music.

Oh lordy...I am a redneck. LOL

I'm meeting my buddies out on the lake
We're headin out to a special place
We love that just a few folks know
There's no signing up, no monthly dues
Take your johnson, your mercury or your evinrude and fire it up
Meet us out at party cove
Come on in' the waters fine
Just idle on over and toss us a line

(Chorus:)
Basstrackers, bayliners and a party barge,
Strung together like a floating trailer park
Anchored out and gettin loud all summer long
Side by side there's five houseboat front porches
Astroturf, lawn chairs and tiki torches
Regular joes rocking the boat
That's us, the redneck yacht club

Bermuda's' flip-flops and a tank top tan
Popped his first top at ten a.m.,
Thats bob, He's our president
We're checking out the girls on the upper deck
Rubbin' in 15 spf,
Its hot, everybody's jumpin' in
Later on when the sun goes down
We'll pull out the jar and old guitar
And pass'em around

Chorus

When the party's over and we're all alone
We'll be making waves in a no wake zone

Chorus
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

Stormy Weather
Sung by by Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday

Don't know why, there's no sun up in the sky
Stormy weather, since my man and I ain't together
Keeps raining all the time

Life is bare, gloom and misery everywhere
Stormy weather, just can't get my poor old self together
I'm weary all the time, the time, so weary all of the time

When he went away, the blues walked in and met me
If he stays away, old rocking chair will get me
All I do is pray, the lord above will let me
walk in the sun once more

Can't go on, everything I had is gone
Stormy weather, since my man and I ain't together
Keeps raining all the time
Keeps raining all of the time

I walk around heavy-hearted and sad
Night comes around and I'm still feeling bad
Rain pourin' down, blinding every hope I had
This pitter andd n patter and beating, spattering driving me mad
Love, love, love, love, the misery will be the end of me

When he went away, the blues walked in and met me
If he stays away, old rocking chair will get me
All I do is pray, the lord above will let me
Walk in the sun once more

Can't go on, everything I had is gone
Stormy weather, since my man and I ain't together
Keeps raining all the time, the time
Keeps raining all the time
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

Desperado by the Eagles...

Post by jodlyn »

*Sigh* I love this song.

Desperado,why don't you come to your senses;
You been out ridin' fences for so long now.
Oh, you're a hard one
I know that you got your reasons
These things that are pleasin' you
Can hurt you somehow.

Don't you draw the Queen of Diamonds,Boy.
She'll beat you if she's able.
You know the Queen of Hearts is always your best bet.

Now, it seems to me some fine things
Have been laid upon your table,
but you only want the ones that you can't get.

Desperado, oh, you ain't gettin' no younger;
Your pain and your hunger, they're drivin' you home

And freedom,oh freedom, well that's just some people talkin'
Your prison is walking through this world all alone

Don't your feet get cold in the winter time?
The sky won't snow and the sun won't shine;
It's hard to tell the night time from the day.
You're loosin' all your highs and lows;
Ain't it funny how the feeling goes away?

Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
Come down from your fences; open the gate.
It may be rainin', but there's a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you, before it's too late
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

I have no idea why I've posted this one

...but it's been a song I've always known. :P

Donald, Where's Yer Troosers? by Andy Stewart

Just got in from the Isle of Skye
I'm not very big and I'm awfully shy
The ladies shout as I go by
Donald where's your troosers?
Chorus:
Let the winds blow high,
Let the winds blow low,
Down the street in my kilt I go
And all the ladies say hello
Donald where's your troosers?
A lady took me to a ball

And it was slippery in the hall
I was afraid that I would fall
'Cause I didn't have on my troosers
Chorus:
They'd like to wed me everyone

Just let them catch me if they can
You canna put the brakes on a highland man
Who doesn't like wearing troosers.
Chorus:
To wear the kilt is my delight,

It isn't wrong, I know it's right.
The highlanders would get afright
If they saw me in my troosers.
Chorus:
Well I caught a cold and me nose was raw

I had no handkerchief at all
So I hiked up my kilt and I gave it a blow,
Now you can't do that with troosers.
Chorus:
I'm not going to let my history pull me down and hold me back, you see.

My Wish by Rascal Flatts

Post by jodlyn »

I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow,
and each road leads you where you want to go,
and if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
And if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,
if it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile,

But more than anything, more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
your dreams stay big, your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
and while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

I hope you never look back, but you never forget,
all the ones who love you, in the place you left,
I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,
and you help somebody every chance you get,
Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,
and always give more than you take.

But More than anything, Yeah, more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
your dreams stay big, your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
and while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish. Yeah.

I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

I heard this song while driving Kris to her Young Women's meeting tonight. I loved the song. It fits us somehow. It should be our motto, don't you think? :)

One more lyric for tonight..Anyway by Martina McBride

Post by jodlyn »

You can spend your whole life building
Something from nothin'
One storm can come and blow it all away
Build it anyway

You can chase a dream
That seems so out of reach
And you know it might never come your way
Dream it anyway

God is great
But sometimes life ain't good
And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
I do it anyway

This world's gone crazy
It's hard to believe
That tomorrow will be better than today
Believe it anyway

You can love someone with all your heart
For all the right reasons
In a moment they can choose to walk away
Love 'em anyway

God is great
But sometimes life ain't good
And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
I do it anyway

You can pour your soul out singing
A song you believe in
That tomorrow they'll forget you ever sang
Sing it anyway
Yea - sing it anyway

I sing
I dream
I love
Anyway
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way!

There are days when everything just seems to remind me how..

Post by PapaMouse »

...alone I am. And when I start to feel sorry for myself, a bit of Barry Manilow seems to help.

I guess Ray Stevens knows that feeling:

I Need Your Help, Barry Manilow

My account is overdrawn, my car slid down the hill.
I'm givin' up, I've got no more to give.
My beagle bit the vet, and my daughter's on the pill.
And my ficus plant has lost its will to live.

I owe Mastercharge my life, I've got adolescent skin.
My doctor says I can't use any salt.
My waist is getting thick, but my hair is getting thin.
And my house is on the San Andreas fault...

I need your help, Barry Manilow.
I'm miserable and I don't know what to do.
Sing me a song, sing it sad and low.
No one knows how to suffer quite like you.

My shrink is out of town, my love life is a joke.
My ex-wife sold my diary to Rona.
All my ashtrays are overflowed, and I don't even smoke.
And my sinuses came back from Arizona...

(Spoken) "Hello, Mandy? It's me. I'm here at the Copa. You know, the Copacabana. I know I don't write the songs that make the whole world sing but I do know one thing, Mandy... I can't smile without you.... Forget Lola.... Remember that weekend in New England? I thought then that this could be the magic at last... Now here I am... Tryin' to get the feelin' again!"

I need your help, Barry Manilow.
I'm all alone and sitting on a shelf.
Sing me a song, sing it sad and low.
I feel like feeling sorry for myself.

I need your help, Barry Manilow.
Your songs can really comfort the unlucky.
Sing me a song, sing it sad and low.
I wish I didn't have to feel so yucky...
I wish I didn't have to feel...

So yucky!!!
Lord, you have filled my cup so full,
How can I fear tomorrow?

 :1013: But it's OK. (As you probably guessed from the fact that I posted Ray Stevens lyrics. I just wish I could find a copy of the song to listen to, or to download to my iPod.) What got me thinking about Mr Manilow in the first place was listening to my Manilow CDs, including this song:

Ready To Take A Chance Again

You remind me I live in a shell,
Safe from the past, and doin' okay,
But not very well.
No jolts, no surprises,
No crisis arises:
My life goes along as it should,
It's all very nice,
But not very good.
And I'm Ready To Take A Chance Again,
Ready to put my love on the line with you.
Been living with nothing to show for it;
You get what you get when you go for it,
And I'm Ready To Take Chance Again with you.

When she left me in all my despair,
I just held on,
My hopes were all gone.
Then I found you there.
And I'm Ready To Take A Chance Again,
Ready To Take A Chance Again with you,
With you.

I don't have anyone to sing it to yet. [sigh] But the fact that I can even think about it without feeling like I'm cheating on MamaMouse is (in my mind) a good sign.
Lord, you have filled my cup so full,
How can I fear tomorrow?

I think it's a good fact. I think your sweet Mama would approve of it. She knows she is the love of your life, and that no one will replace her in your heart. However, since you've shared with us how sweet she was, I think she also knows your heart is big enough for another also.

That's the way I feel about it. And I know that if there's a woman who would even try to "take her place", then she's not the woman for me. But if a woman can live with the fact that there was someone, and is willing to be the second one (chronologically), then maybe I could love such a woman.

I have friends who are widows. They talk about how they want someone to love who understands about the one who passed away and understands that a heart can be shared. You and my friends use exactly the same wording. So they're out there..it's just finding them.
